About Me

I help graduate students and early career researchers excel in academia. During my three-year PhD at the University of Toronto, I authored 20 articles and book chapters, co-edited a book, acquired competitive research funding, became the managing editor of a journal, and secured a faculty professor position. I have also taught academic English to hundreds of international students, am proficient in five languages (English, Spanish, German, Italian, and French), and have studied, worked, and travelled in over 25 countries. Drawing on these skills and experiences, I help people navigate academic language and culture to succeed in graduate school and academia.

I offer the following services:

  • Developmental feedback and copyediting on manuscripts, theses, and proposals

  • Consultations on academic publishing, final oral examinations, and strategic planning

  • Personalized feedback on admission statements, scholarship applications, and course assignments

  • Guidance and feedback on academic resumes/CVs, cover letters, and research/teaching statements

Layla, York University

"I began working with Rebecca after taking a lengthy break from my dissertation, carrying a great deal of self-doubt and fear about returning to my research and my academic career. In a remarkably short time, she helped me rebuild my confidence, rediscover my voice as a scholar, and design a realistic, motivating plan to complete my work. Her mentorship strikes the perfect balance between holding you to a high standard of excellence and offering emotional care. She’s organized, insightful, and deeply generous with her time and expertise, while also bringing attentiveness and genuine warmth to every conversation. What sets Rebecca apart is her ability to make you believe in yourself and your talents again. She sees the potential in your work even when you’ve lost sight of it, and she knows exactly how to translate that belief into structure, momentum, and self-trust. I leave each session with renewed clarity, confidence, and a genuine excitement for my research. Working with Rebecca has been nothing short of transformative. She brings warmth, precision, and deep expertise to her mentorship, creating a space where you feel seen, heard, and fully supported. Her approach is structured and intentional without ever feeling rigid, and she has an extraordinary ability to meet you exactly where you are and help you move forward with purpose."

"Rebecca edited my dissertation in less than a week, paying careful attention to help me find missing references and even take into consideration the political nuances of certain terminology in my field. She spoke with me several times over the phone to help resolve final details more quickly, and also provided insight into the strengths and areas of improvement of my thesis in preparation for my defence. I highly recommend working with Rebecca if you are looking for a professional, dedicated, and supportive editor!"
